What Keeps You Up At Night
Sick Child. (Always keeps us UP!)
Financial Difficulties.
Newborn Babies. (Absolutely!)
Mourning the loss of a loved one.
Dog that needs to go out.
Faltering Marriage.
Worry.
Addiction.
Toxic work environment.
Anxiety creeping into our daily lives.
Depression.
Exhaustion.
Domestic Abuse.
All of these things have one thing in common, they all have the ability to keep us up at night. One of my favorite things to ask people is, “What keeps you up at night?”. I love to ask people this question, because it really helps me know how my friend, co-worker, family member or client is doing. We ALL have challenges in our life, at any given moment.
I want you to take a moment to think about your current challenge, the one thing you think about all night…. Hoping…. Praying…. Pleading for some direction. Wondering if it will ever let up, if it will ever change where you can rest easy again.
Now i’m going to ask you to do something unconventional. I want you to think about that challenge and ask yourself, “How could this be working FOR me?” “How could this obstacle serve me in my life?” “ What could I gain from this experience? “ “How could I use this to help others?”
Now if you have any spiritual or religious background this would be the time to ask you, why do you think you are here? What is your purpose on this earth? I would answer that we were sent here to struggle, to have trials to be challenged to become the best version of ourselves. To grow, to overcome, to empower ourselves to make changes and use our gifts and abilities to excel and help others along our way. That thought brings so much peace to my soul. Try to remember that this was always the plan, I was always meant to struggle, it is a part of my growth.
